About the Speaker.

Jinsu has a background deeply rooted in agriculture, having grown up on a diversified farm with beef cattle in South Korea. He pursued his passion for animal science, completing his undergraduate program with Animal Science major at Seoul National University (Seoul, Korea). He then furthered his education, earning both his MS and PhD in Swine Nutrition from the same university in 2018. Transitioning to the United States, Jinsu embarked on a postdoctoral research program at South Dakota State University, focusing on the swine research of oilseed byproducts and their impact on pig gut health. During his Research Associate II position at the SDSU from 2021 to 2023, he dedicated his efforts to swine and poultry research, aiming to enhance the nutritional value of biofuel byproducts such as soybean meal, corn dried distillers grains with solubles (cDDGS), canola meal, carinata meal, and sunflower meal through the application of advanced feed technology. Recently, Jinsu has joined the Integrated Animal Systems Biology team at the University of Minnesota. Here, he contributes his expertise to swine and poultry sustainability research, particularly in utilizing biofuel byproducts and alternative ingredients. His work is focused on addressing the interconnected challenges of One Health and reducing environmental footprints in livestock industry and agriculture.
