Please join us on February 21st at 10:00 am (CST) for our "Everything Ethanol" webinar series! This interactive webinar series focuses on advancing global ethanol market development. Topics throughout the series include ethanol marketing factors, policies around the world, human health & ethanol, and more. A new speaker will be featured each month.

This month will feature Rowena Torres-Ordonez, Ethanol Technical Consultant & Advisor for the US Grains Council. During her webinar, Torres-Ordonez will cover four technical topics relevant to ethanol product handling. These four topics include:

  • Product handling throughout the value chain, particularly with respect to best practices.

  • The move toward higher ethanol level blends.

  • Technical guidance for retail sites for moving to higher ethanol blends.

  • Fuel specifications which play an important part in ensuring that ethanol blending is enabled, thereby ensuring that ethanol has access to markets.

Rowena Torres-Ordonez | US Grains Council

About the Speaker.

Rowena Torres-Ordonez has served as Ethanol Technical Consultant and Advisor for U.S. Grains Council since March 2021.

 Prior to this, Rowena had 32 years of experience in the energy industry where she worked for BP (in Naperville, Illinois) in the areas of petroleum fuels refining and marketing and in biofuels R&D. She is co-holder of a patent for using butanol in gasoline. Her key expertise areas are fuel specs and standards, new market deployment, quality assurance, strategic planning/communication, project management and cultural competence. Her last project at BP was the launch of BP fuels in Indonesia where she coordinated technology support for fuels technology, procurement, supply, regulatory and legal teams.

 Rowena’s degrees and training are in chemical engineering – PhD and MS from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and BS from University of the Philippines (UP). She also did postdoctoral work at MIT and University of Delaware. She has also been a part-time professorial lecturer at UP Department of Chemical Engineering since February 2022.
