NCI Assists in Dong Suh Creation of Granola Cereal

Post Whole Barley Granola

After an educational course on barley by NCI, Dong Suh Companies Inc. and Post created Barley Granola using North Dakota grown barley. Dong Suh Foods, based out of Seoul, South Korea released their very first granola-derived cereal that is made with 27% American barley flour. The creation of this product was possible due to the (USGC-NCI) Healthy Solutions for Food Barley Uses Course hosted by NCI in 2021. This course was created to learn all about the aspects of the food barley industry by giving insight to breeding, nutritional benefits, barley food product launches, barley food trends, processing, transportation, contracting and securing supply. The course is designed to help buyers or potential buyers’ insight to new varieties, nutritional information, food trends, and assist in making marketplace connections. The goal for this course is raising demand for barley, which you could say has been accomplished thanks to the attendees from Post who later used the skills and information they acquired from the course to create Post Whole Barley Granola. Their new product contains corn flakes with barley, granola with domestic whole-grain, and cranberry and mango flavors. Granola is up and coming in South Korea, it has a solid reputation for its health benefits, and when mixed with fruit and nuts it can create a balanced meal. NCI is thrilled to have impacted Dong Suh Foods to create a successful product from across the world.
