Northern Crops Institute's Governing Board Elects New Chair

 

Fargo, ND - At its July meeting, the Northern Crops Institute's governing board elected a new chair, Sherwood Peterson, a producer from Baker, MN. Peterson has served as vice chair of the Northern Crops Council (NCC) since 2000. He represents the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association. Peterson succeeds Maynard Satrom, who served as NCC chair for two years and continues as a member of the NCC, representing the North Dakota Wheat Commission.

Brian Kaae, a producer from Dagmar, MT, was elected vice chair. He represents the Montana Wheat and Barley Committee. Ray Lottie, a manager of cereal & eastern grain operations supply for General Mills, Minneapolis, was elected to his first term on the board. He holds one of the two food processor seats on the Council.

Richard Kuecker, a producer from Webster, SD, was re-elected to his second term. He represents the South Dakota Wheat Commission. The North Dakota Oilseed Council appointed Doyle Burkhardt to fill its permanent seat on the NCC.

Northern Crops Institute (NCI) is funded by state appropriations from Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota, and commodity check-off funding in these three states and Montana. NCI supports regional agriculture and value-added processing by conducting educational and technical programs that expand and maintain domestic and international markets for northern-grown crops. NCI serves as a resource center for international and domestic buyers, trade teams, and processors seeking technical information on northern-grown crops.
