Northern Crops Institute Board Elects New Officers

For Immediate Release

Fargo, N.D., USA – David Clough, a producer from Fessenden, N.D., was elected the new chair of the Northern Crops Council (NCC) at their November 24 meeting.  The NCC is the governing board of the Northern Crops Institute.

Clough represents the North Dakota Wheat Commission.  He began his first three-year term on the NCC in 2007.

Robert Majkrzak, Red River Commodities Inc., was elected NCC vice chair.  Majkrzak fills a food processor seat on the Council.  His first term on the NCC also began in 2007.

Clough succeeds Dan Wiltse, who died in a tragic farm accident on October 22.  Wiltse, a producer from Lisbon, N.D., was elected NCC chair in June.  Wiltse represented the North Dakota Oilseed Council.

Six seats on the NCC are permanently occupied by the NDSU President, N.D. Commissioner of Agriculture, and representatives of the N.D. Wheat Commission, N.D. Oilseed Council, N.D. Barley Council, and N.D. Soybean Council.  The additional eleven seats are filled by producers and food processors from Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota, who gain seats on the Council through election by the permanent members.

Northern Crops Institute supports regional agriculture and value-added processing by conducting educational and technical programs that expand and maintain domestic and international markets for northern-grown crops.
